6/25/08 WCC Announces 2008 Spring All-Academic Teams San Bruno, CA - The WCC announced the 2008 Spring All-Academic Teams today, with Saint Mary's receiving 10 honorees from five sports. The 2008 WCC All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
Moraga, CA - Achim Christner was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Eight First Team following his stellar academic and athletic achievements. Christner has accumulated a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Business Administration with a concentration on finance. The Holzelfingen, Germany native finished his undergraduate degree in three years, and will continue his Saint Mary's tennis career next season while pursuing his graduate degree.
Moraga, CA - The 2007-08 men's tennis team compiled their best season in program history, as Head Coach Michael Wayman helped propel the Gaels into the national tennis scene for the first time in the school history. The Gaels brought the program to new heights, earning their highest ranking ever, No. 47 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. With a 16-7 overall record, and with every loss suffered coming at the hands of ranked opponents, it was not a surprise that this team had the potential to do something special.
